Slam Saturdays: Lyla Mae

Buenos dias, everyone and welcome to a new feature on the blog.  Slam Saturdays is a weekly posting of (mostly unfinished) poetry. Most of these pieces are over ten years old, but they represent a major step in my evolution as a writer.  Without further ado, I present my the first piece:

Lyla Mae

Walking through walls.

Singing.

Singing.

She was gone now.

The little woman from the clear sea.

Nothing left of her,

Save a tiny Kodak and a book of songs.

Dead.

The twinkling eyes.

With no memory of why she came up from the rocky coast.

Our grief did not keep her here.

Back to the sea.

Gone before the body was cold.

Leaving the way she came.

Laughing.

Laughing.

Walking through walls.
